Hotter'n Hell and Climbing Thru It

Well, I think I officially rode thru hell today. Heat index was 110 and I rode 40 miles in the heat of the day. Forgot my inhalor. Rode a really hilly course. See, my Garmin proves it...

As if riding south on Mission Road isn't hard enough, I had to combine the hills, with the heat and the humidity which caused my asthma to really act up. Climbing a hill at about 177th, I thought I was about to pass out. Thank God for the wondeful fire fighters who gave us cold water and ICE and gave me oxygen. It was so so helpful. Jim, you're the best!

I had a pretty good average speed on my last 14 miles back to the gym. I'm pleased. Then I took a little rest and had an AWESOME swim. I can't remember the last time (if ever) that I've had an awesome swim not at Masters. For once, I actually did my whole set. I'm so proud of myself! I wish the water would have been colder, but thats how it goes when its August in KC. Everything was great til I was ready for my cool down and I started cramping. That was my cue to take 'er easy. Time to go home, cook, eat and lay on the couch. I've never tasted such a delicious Bud Light in my life!!! MMM, and super sweet strawberries. They were fabulous!

Now, sleep and up early to beat the heat and get 13 miles in. The only thing that will probably get me up is that I get to wear my new running skirt!! :-)

Way to power through a tough ride, Trish. Mission Road has some of the biggest hills in KC - no doubt!

I got a running skirt yesterday too! I LOVE IT!
